Five Nights at Freddy's 2 will begin filming at the end of October, but before the cameras start rolling, star Josh Hutcherson has already promised that the sequel will be bigger and even scarier than the first installment.
“It's a lot bigger, there's more at stake,” Hutcherson said in an interview with gift. “More animatronics are being brought in, different animatronics, and the world is just opening up in a big way. I think the fans are going to love it. It's going to be a lot of fun with the fountain. It's going to be scarier.” , too, actually.”
The world the star is talking about is, of course, the Five Nights at Freddy's universe, based on the popular video game franchise of the same name. The first Five nights at Freddy's The movie is based on the story of the first game, and from what we've seen so far, it looks like Five Nights at Freddy's 2 will follow the same type of story as the second game, also called Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
Earlier this year, the studio teased the sequel with some Behind-the-scenes footage from Jim Henson's Creature Shop where the animatronic villains from the first film were created. The images show a drawing that looks very similar to a character named Mangle from the second game. Additionally, in honor of the video game franchise's 10th anniversary, ScottGames attracted fans by releasing four script excerpts for the sequel, and only one of them is real. Interestingly, however, one of these scripts was set in a key location in the second game: the carousel. Coincidence? We think not.
But, as we know from the first movie, what we see on the screen is not exactly what happens in the games. Hutcherson added later in the interview that one of the goals for him in undertaking this project was to expand the world of the games, but still have the characters remain “grounded.” The star continued, “That's something that I really think we all struggled with in the first movie, because this world that was created in Five Nights at Freddy's is so out there. It's so over the top and crazy.”
At this point, we know that Hutcherson will reprise his role in the next film and that Emma Tammi is back in the directing chair. However, a broader cast list has yet to be revealed.
