on this Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom guide, we'll show you how to get through the Eastern Temple and complete the “Let's Play a Game” quest, and tell you how to beat the temple's boss, Smog.
Location of the Eastern Temple and how to start 'Let's play a game'
Head to the Eastern Temple, which is, appropriately, east of Hyrule Castle.
At the entrance, you will meet Sago, who will tell you that he wants to do some archaeological work in the temple, but that he heard a strange voice asking him to play and is afraid that there are monsters inside. You will have to eliminate that monster to allow it to do its job.

Immediately inside the entrance to the Eastern Temple, you will be greeted by two sparks moving in sync around a pair of pillars. The sparks do not harm Zelda, but they temporarily stun her and push her back.
You can use obstacles to divert the sparks from the path and let you pass, or you can defeat them using enemy echoes from a distance. If you do, you will be able to learn the spark echowhich will be useful later. Either way, move forward to delve deeper into the temple.

In this room there are three sparks and a cube-shaped mechanism in the corner. If you watch for a few seconds (while avoiding the sparks!), you will see that one of the sparks will enter the mechanism and cause it to ignite.
You need to get the other two sparks into the bucket to open the door. You can do this by grabbing them with Bind. It may be easier to time if you catch them between two obstacles first. Go through the open door to reach the next room.

In this room you will also have to change the path of the sparks so that they enter the cube. First, take a step towards the rock and the small wall on the north side of the room using a table. Then grab one of the sparks using X and climb this makeshift ladder.
Once the sparks are at the height level of the cube, you can release them and they should eventually come across the cube. Go through the door that is now open.

In this room there are two sparks guarding a chest. Since you can't get them out of there with Bind, you can use a ranged enemy echo, such as a moblin spear to defeat them. The spear moblin's accuracy isn't great against a moving enemy, but it will catch him eventually!
Open the chest to get five rock salt and then go down the ladder on the western side of this room.

In this 2D room there are a couple of sparks spinning around the upper platforms and a caramadillo on the floor. Defeat the caramadillo using an enemy echo to get the Eco Caramadillo Lv. 2. You can then defeat the sparks or get past them using careful timing to enter the next room on the right.

In this room, sparks enter the water, electrifying a small radius around it. However, they are not too difficult to avoid. Swim to the bottom of the pool to open a chest with 50 rupees into it, and then continue to the right. Be sure to pause if avoiding the rock would cause you to collide with a spark, but you should be able to come out the other side without too much hassle. Go down the stairs to enter the next room.

This is a bit of a respite, with two pots you can break but no enemies.
How to defeat Smog, the boss of the Eastern Temple

Upon entering this room, the battle against the boss of the Eastern Temple will begin, an electric cloud called Smog.
Smog will move through this maze-like area, shooting balls of lightning at you. The swordsman form won't be of much use to you here, as Smog can electrocute Zelda with the sword.
Summons enemy mobs from a distance, such as moblin spearat intersections to have a good chance of detecting smog. You can also tie them briefly to give them a little more time to shoot. This will also reverse the direction of the smog.
After three hits, Smog will concede the “round” and break into three smaller pieces. You'll have to watch their patterns and interrupt them and block them with rocks so they recombine before you can deal more damage to them.

Once Smog is whole again, repeat the steps to break it down again, this time into five pieces. Once again, take these pieces back to a giant Smog while avoiding the electricity. Note that the one on the top right is trapped and you will have to push the rock to free it.
All you need to do now is hit Smog three more times with enemy echo attacks and you will have completed this boss battle! You will get a lot of rupees and a piece of heart as a reward. And you will be teleported back to Room #1 of the Eastern Temple, so you can go out and tell Sago the good news.
Sago will give you one old charm which reduces the amount of damage taken while using it. This will complete the quest “Let's play a game.”
After completing this quest, if you have progressed far enough in the game to have completed the Faron Wetlands rift, you will be able to begin the quest “Quest for Cotton Candy” in the Hidden Ruins, which continues this quest.
