Earlier this month, Digital Foundry had the opportunity to test the PlayStation 5 Pro at Sony's London office and got a high-quality capture of The Last of Us Part 2 and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. You've already seen our reviews on how each of those games compare in Pro to the standard model, along with a breakdown of PSSR's upscaling quality compared to DLSS and FSR. However, one feedback we received loud and clear was the demand to see more games running, without any of our usual head-to-head comparisons.
All of which brings us to this news post from Eurogamer, where we offer just that, starting with Naughty Dog's PS5 Pro PSSR upgrade for The Last of Us Part 2. If you remember, the Pro upgrades here are all about the upgrade with the simple TAA update. exchanged for Sony's new machine learning-based counterpart. The base 1440p resolution remains unchanged from the standard PS5, but PSSR offers substantial improvements to image quality, as you'll see with this larger video edit that focuses much more on the overall presentation.
In addition to the screenshot, you'll be able to hear me and Oliver Mackenzie summarize our general impressions (we've both played the Pro version at this point), plus there's a more general discussion about the opportunities we've had with the game and with the Pro in general.
DF Clips generally aims to reduce our extensive weekly DF Direct program to its component modules for ease of consumption, but we also publish exclusive content from time to time and with many PS5 Pro screenshots now in our possession, we often don't finish . on the main channel – it's a good home for some extra material, so consider subscribing!
We'll be providing new material on Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart below, and we'll also be posting full Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth content with commentary from Oliver and John Linneman (again, both of whom have played it)… so stay tuned. for this in due time.
