Diablo GM Rod Fergusson has polled Diablo 4 players about whether Blizzard should tone down the absolutely boring Spiritborn class, and well, the overwhelming sentiment from the community seems to be that no, it should be left alone. peace.
ICYMI, Diablo 4 added its first new class, Spiritborn, as part of the recent Vessel of Hatred DLC, and while the response has been largely positive, it's also too easy to exploit using bugs to generate stupid big numbers. Last time I checked, Diablo 4 players were piling up bugs to create Spiritborn builds whose damage output was in the trillions. At the time, a player analysis estimated that the Spiritborn class was “literally 100,000 times stronger than any other class.”
Well, Blizzard has finally acknowledged the situation, with Fergusson shares what he said is a “non-binding survey” to Twitter asking: “Should we fix the Spiritborn to be more balanced with the other classes OR should we leave it as is because you're having fun?”
He added: “No, I am not offering [to] 'break up the other classes'.”
As of this writing, 63.1% of players want Blizzard to leave the Spiritborn class alone and 36.9% want some sort of solution. Blizzard is wise to probe before making balance changes, as it has in the past admitted to a lack of internal testing that led to some fairly universally maligned ideas and features. Balance in live service games in general seems like a really tricky thing to achieve and is often the source of the kind of widespread backlash Blizzard is used to by now, so it makes sense that they'd be careful not to err. with anything without being sure that it will go down well.
