Deadpool and Wolverine are hoping to win some gold this awards season.
According to Variety, the film will be submitted for consideration in the comedy categories of the Golden Globes, with Ryan Reynolds up for Best Actor (Comedy or Musical). Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman will be considered for supporting actor at the major awards, which include the Critics Choice, Screen Actors Guild Awards, Golden Globes, and even the Oscars.
Deadpool and Wolverine are also in the running for technical Oscar nominations.
Of course, as Variety notes, the film has an excellent chance of being nominated in the Film and Box Office Achievement category at the Golden Globes. It’s a new category introduced last year, and Barbie took home the first gold. A film must gross $150 million — $100 million of which must come from the U.S. box office — or secure comparable streaming numbers to be eligible. Deadpool and Wolverine both surpassed the $1.3 billion mark at the box office, so it’s a safe bet for a nomination.
Deadpool and Wolverine fans won't have to wait long to enjoy the movie at home either. The film will arrive on digital on October 1 and the physical release on October 22. There is no information yet on the release date of Deadpool and Wolverine on Disney Plus.
