Bulwark Evolution: Falconeer Chronicles is reaching new heights after a complete overhaul of the entire game.
You might remember The Falconeer as that launch-level dogfight title for Xbox Series X|S that had you piloting a massive, ferocious bird through gorgeous clouds and crashing waves. It was incredible, and solo developer Tomas Sala followed it up with a radical shift into a new genre.
Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles billed itself as a “dynamic strategy game where you build, expand, and defend a great civilization, with modes ranging from peaceful creativity to intense warfare,” all set in the same cloudy, dramatic world as its predecessor.
Bulwark was already a well-received city-building game, but Sala recently released an update that was so transformative that the game also changed its name, from Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles to Bulwark Evolution: Falconeer Chronicles. The, ahem, evolution comes from a doubling of open-world content, much clearer progression, and a new Total Conquest mode that pits you against every possible faction in the game at the same time. Chaos.
The radical changes have certainly made a difference, though. Salas recently tweeted that “you guys are liking the evolution,” alongside a screenshot of the game’s recent Steam user reviews, which were 97% positive. “That’s crazy, it’s never been this high, for an experimental game that breaks conventions…” In the days since, more user reviews have been recorded thanks to a massive 50% discount lasting until September 20.
