Fender has teamed up with Capcom to create a Monster Hunter-inspired Telecaster: the Monster Hunter Rathalos Telecaster.
The guitar is now available in the UK store for £1,850, making it one of Fender's most expensive versions. There is no pre-order option yet, although Fender says the instrument will be available starting in March 2025.
The guitar features the iconic Rathalos emblem, along with “subtly placed guild markings throughout the body and inlays on the fingerboard.”
“The bold original body color, tortoiseshell pickguard and sleek black hardware echo the [Rathalos’] ferocity, making this a truly unique instrument,” says Fender.
“We are thrilled to bring this collaboration to life with the world's leading guitar brand Fender to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Monster Hunter,” said Ryozo Tsujimoto, producer of the Monster Hunter series.
“The collaborative guitar features several elements reflecting Rathalos, one of the series' iconic monsters, with details such as claw marks, inlays and patterns on the body. Additionally, plans are underway for in-game collaborations with Monster Hunter Wilds , so please expect that too.”
Japanese fans also get an additional limited edition model, called, confusingly, the Limited Monster Hunter Rathalos Telecaster. Pre-orders are now available, although restricted to the Fender flagship store in Tokyo and the official Fender Japan online store. That version also comes with a premium hard case.
Fans who don't have the better part of two thousand dollars lying around can also purchase exclusive guitar picks (there are 12 designs to collect) and a collector's pick case designed to look like the in-game item box.
However, it looks like you won't be able to choose which selection you want to purchase, as “the specific designs included remain a mystery until the package is opened.” Additionally, “pick products will be available for sale exclusively in the Asia-Pacific region,” so it doesn't look like they'll be coming to the US or Europe anytime soon.
However, the Japan-exclusive limited edition guitar will include a special pick case with all 12 pick designs.
Capcom recently revealed the PC system requirements for Monster Hunter Wilds, following the news in this week's State of Play that it was scheduled for release on February 28, 2025 on PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series /S.
The game will require 140 GB of storage on an SSD and 16 GB of memory. The minimum specs are for an enhanced resolution of 1080p at 30fps, while the recommended specs are for 60fps.
