Black Dragon Mage is on the way
German indie game developer Datablob has announced the release date for Black Dragon Mage. This highly anticipated action roguelite shooter will be released on December 4 for PC via Steam with support for Steam Deck and Linux via Proton. It will be available with a 20% launch discount on Steam, so be sure to take advantage of this opportunity.
Black Dragon Mage is a dark fantasy action roguelike with a top-down bullet-sky style. Its retro 16-bit visuals bring the world to life, filled with swarms of demonic enemies, intense boss fights, and endless building possibilities. The game draws heavy inspiration from titles such as Death Must Die, Halls of Torment, Boneraiser Minions, Bomberman, the SNES RPG era, Diablo, 20 Minutes Till Dawn, and Vampire Survivors.
The cool thing, though, is that players can ride a dragon companion to turn the tide of battle. The dragon mount unleashes the staff's energy for a powerful ultimate attack. Summon him for a short time by refilling the mana bar with potions. The gameplay focuses on player control. You'll aim your attacks yourself, manage your ammo, and time your movements carefully. Spells, activated in real time via the hotbar, are key to surviving the 15-minute timer in battle.
Players can choose three spells to place on their hotbar and arrange them in any order they wish. To unlock more spells, level up, gain experience, and collect loot. These spells cover defensive, magical, and offensive abilities. The game offers two different wizards and ever-changing environments full of dangers that players can use to their advantage or end up running into a cactus and dying unexpectedly. The world continues to evolve, constantly adding new challenges and discovering more of the Black Dragon Mage's realm.
