Remember the free update to Balatro's Friends of Jimbo collaboration back in August, in which the acclaimed poker-themed rogue added a bunch of card cosmetics inspired by popular video games? Well, it turns out there was more where that came from, and gamers can now adorn their desktops with cameos from games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Stardew Valley.
Balatro's original Friends of Jimbo update gave players the option to swap the game's usual kings, queens, and jacks with characters from The Witcher, Vampire Survivors, Dave the Diver, and Among Us. So if you fancied beefing up your deck with a Radiant Jaskier, for example, or a little red space friend, then you were well served.
And now, Balatro developer LocalThunk is doing it all again with the free Friends of Jimbo 2 pack, which includes cameos from The Binding of Isaac and Slay the Spire, along with Cyberpunk 2077 and Stardew Valley. That means you can now set Johnny Silverhand as your ice king, Isaac's mother as your varicose vein queen, even Stardew Valley store general manager Pierre as your Jack, with the 12 new card faces shown in the trailer below.
And beyond that, there's not much else to report, other than the fact that Balatro's free Friends of Jimbo Pack 2 update is now available for PC, PlayStation, Switch, Android, and iOS. As for what's next, LocalThunk previously confirmed that it's working on a major free content update, promising to “bring new ideas and strategies to the game,” which will launch sometime next year.
And if you haven't played the absurdly compelling Balatro yet, he's definitely worth checking out. Christian Donlan had good things to say about his rogue turn in poker in his four-star review earlier this year, calling it “so surprising and so brilliantly constructed, and something that has given me so much pleasure over the past week.”
