The backyard is back
The 90s were a simpler time. Everyone was out, or at least it felt like that, and the games were a reflection of that. Backyards became any stadium you could imagine. Even football. Today, Playground Productions and Mega Cat Studios are excited to announce the release of Backyard Soccer '98 on Steam. Importantly, the game arrives as part of the nostalgic Backyard Sports franchise and right after Backyard Baseball '97. Of course, remastering games brings with it a sense of nostalgia and is apparently a highly sought after feeling. In fact, Backyard Baseball '97 was the number one new sports game and a top 10 overall game on Steam at the time of its release.
Backyard Soccer '98 gives players a chance to return to the field. With the resurgence of the classic game, players can expect all the nostalgic fun of the original but enhanced for Steam. Players will participate in 6-on-6 matches in their backyard, aimed at capturing the youthful spirit of soccer when they were children. Interestingly, the game features point-and-click movements and passing in intense matches. Additionally, players can form teams of 8 children of their choice and join a pick-up game or become a coach for league games.
A new trailer gives players a glimpse of Backyard Soccer '98 and all the nostalgic action. Check it out below.
Backyard Soccer '98 is now available for purchase on Steam and Steam Deck. Players can visit www.backyardsports.com and www.playground-productions.com for more information. It's time to get back to the players on the field. Let's go out and play some sports in the backyard as the holidays approach.
