Reserve bonuses today are not as aggressive as they used to be. Does anyone remember the silly levels in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided? – but everything from exclusive cosmetics to early access is still used to entice excited players to buy the game before launch. So the Monster Hunter Wilds team had to remind people once again that yes, the upcoming beta is actually free.
Capcom had already announced that their upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds beta wouldn't have a paywall behind pre-orders, but it seems like not enough people got the memo, and I wouldn't blame them, as even games like Concord and Call of this year. Duty: Black Ops 6 had exclusive beta versions for pre-orders.
“Hunters, we've seen some comments wondering if you need to have pre-ordered Monster Hunter Wilds to access the Open Beta test,” the game's social media account tweeted. “The answer is no, you do not need to pre-order to play! However, if you would like to pre-order after playing the Open Beta test, that would be great!” Probably the most polite reservation request I have ever seen.
That open beta will be available to everyone on PS5, Xbox Series The beta version will be released tomorrow on October 28 at 8 pm PT / October 29 at 3 am GMT.
If you want to pre-order the big beast destroyer anyway, Capcom has added some goodies to the mix. None of the extras are, ahem, wild enough to rank among the most baffling pre-order bonuses ever, but an exclusive armor cosmetic and in-game talisman are pretty cool.
After 10 years, Monster Hunter Wilds will expand one of the coolest and rarest monster types in the series.
