[Ed. note: This post contains spoilers for the end of season 3 of The Legend of Vox Machina, in order to talk about what season 4 might bring.]
Vox Machina is more prosperous than ever at the end of Season 3. They've been through some tough times; They've been to hell and back, literally; and one of them has even died (for a not inconsiderable time!). So it's no surprise that at the end of season three they're making big changes. Except we're watching a show called The legend of Vox Machinaso one would hope that one day they return to the adventures we know and love.
And that day will come soon! Or at least on the way: Prime Video announced on Wednesday that it was picking up The legend of Vox Machina prepared for a fourth season. Which is a good thing, because while that ending was more or less a good place to leave our righteous heroes, those strange hooded cultists at the end seemed to be summoning something nefarious. And as Pike (Ashley Johnson) says: If danger comes again, who will they call?
With season 4 officially on the way, here's everything we know about the upcoming season so far.
Is The Legend of Vox Machina season 4 happening?

Prime Video officially confirmed a fourth season of The legend of Vox Machina on October 23. Which was to be expected: in May there were rumors that SAG-AFTRA production lists suggested a fourth and even fifth The season was in progress. Plus, being in the Critical Role business right now seems pretty cool. The company is enjoying great success with real dynamic shows and fulfilling its hope of having more live shows by going on a world tour. With other animated adaptations on the way (more on that below), Critical Role is really on a roll (sorry), and season 4 seems the most logical.
“We are beyond excited – and grateful – to continue the epic, wild adventures of Vex, Vax, Keyleth, Percy, Pike, Grog and everyone's favorite character: Scanlan,” said executive producer (and Scanlan's voice actor) Sam Riegel in a statement. . “With each season, this show levels up and we already have big plans to improve both our heroes and our villains in season four.”
When will The Legend of Vox Machina season 4 be released on Prime Video?
Between previous seasons, fans had to wait between a year and a year and a half. Those seasons have been in production in the past: When Prime Video acquired the rights in November 2019, it announced it would greenlight the show for more before Season 1 premiered. And before Season 2 premiered, Vox Machine was renewed for its third season.
With a renewal notice officially in hand, you may Vox Machine Season 4 follows more or less the same pattern, meaning we could expect it next year. But it seems likely that the earliest we'll see it will be late 2025, maybe even 2026.
What would Vox Machina season 4 be about?
With a show like Vox Machine (being an adaptation of an actual game series and condensing dozens of hours into about six hours of television), there are plenty of options for where the story could take them next. But one thing seems certain: no matter where Vox Machina ends up, they're facing real problems with the person introduced in the final trailer.
We won't go too deep into campaign spoilers (you can always watch it if you want to get the full idea of what the final teaser was about). But with Vox Machina committed to trying to live their lives, it seems likely that they will be called back into action to face this new enemy.
And life probably won't be as simple as everyone expects. While many members of Vox Machina have leveled up, battled personal demons, and won this season, the finale promises that there could still be a cost to pay for all of that…
What Critical Role stuff should I check out while I wait for season 4?
Well, obviously there's the Critical Role channel, which not only has a ton of original Vox Machina content, but also includes newer spinoff series like Exandria Unlimited: Calamity, hell bells, and more. They even stopped being pure Dungeons & Dragons and developed their own systems.
There is also the assembly. Mighty Nein fervor in which you can participate. That original campaign is also on YouTube, but it's also being adapted to Prime Video. No release date has been given, but Travis Willingham (who plays Grog) tells Polygon that production is underway.
“We have written all of Season 1. All storyboards are locked, if they aren't already. So off we go to our study abroad. We are recovering the animation tests and seeing that things have color again. We have designed all the characters. Spells and magical effects are being considered. We're talking about music and how it will be different from voice”Willingham said at Fantastic Fest. “We're definitely more than halfway there now and I think everyone will be very excited with the outcome.”
