On the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, many celebrities of the country have paid tribute to him. Now Veer Das has written a post on X in which he has remembered the qualities of the late Prime Minister. Veer Das remembered the time when he himself used to make fun of him. It is also written that it is difficult to do this in today's time. Veer Das has written in the post that the politician who laughs and listens to jokes about himself is really powerful.
Veer Das writes, Dr. Manmonhan Singh had said that history will remember him fondly. I'm glad to see that's what's happening on social media. He had a sense of humor. Leaders mean different things to different people, I can only talk based on my experience. I personally remember making fun of him on CNBC's Prime bulletin when I was 20, and our team was fully aware that his team was watching us and we didn't even care. He was the most powerful man in the country and we were making jokes on him 5 times a week. This was not right because we were very immature.
Veer Das writes, Let me remind you that this was not a comedy show but was a part of the 9 pm bulletin which was watched by every businessman of the country. Now think about how difficult it is for this to happen. Taking the joke of our profession with ease is the mark of an absolutely great, secure, and humble leader. Great leaders know it's part of the job. Powerful leaders and jokes have been associated with each other for centuries and taking jokes comfortably is a sign of grace that makes them even greater. A politician who makes jokes about himself is truly powerful and a politician who makes jokes about himself is also praiseworthy. In this matter, he will be higher in stature than any leader of India in my life so far. Rest in peace sir.
