Tiger Baby and Imaho Films in collaboration with HHMI Tangled Bank Studios today announce the world premiere of their latest film, Turtle Walker, at Doc NYC 2024 on Sunday, November 17. Turtle Walker, directed by Taira Maloney, is her debut film. In which the story of Indian Satish Bhaskar, who was at the forefront of the conservation of sea turtles, has been told beautifully. Who have spent their lives saving these beautiful but endangered animals.
In the late 1970s, Satish Bhaskar embarked on this special journey to the beautiful shores of India. He tried to live with the unique sea turtles and took steps to save these sea creatures.
The film was initially made by a small Independence team in Goa, India. Over the last 7 years it has become an international coproduction, with awardwinning partners from around the world. Let us tell you that Submarine Deluxe has the rights to sell it.
Director Taira Maloney has received several awards for Turtle Walker, including “Best Natural History and Wildlife Pitch” at Sunny Side of the Dock, 2019, “Emerging Filmmaker Award (India)” and “Griffith Film School Award” at DockEdge Kolkata, 2018. Residency Award (Australia)”. Additionally, in 2024, Taira received the Grand Teton Award, the highest honor given at the Jackson Wilde Media Awards.
“Satish Bhaskar had a deep curiosity about the marine world,” said Taira Maloney, founder of Imaho Films. He further added, “As humans, we naturally want to discover things. This curiosity drives us to ask questions, learn, and appreciate the world around us. “By bringing Satish’s story to the world, we hope to inspire muchneeded conversations about our oceans and encourage people to get involved in protecting and exploring them.”

Turtle Walker is written and directed by Taira Maloney. This film has been produced by Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti, Angad Dev Singh, Vikram Maloney and Taira Maloney. Whereas, Krish Makhija is the associate director and head of cinematography. The film is cowritten and edited by Sam Rogers, Isabelle Couture, James Reed, Jared Lipworth, Sean B. Carroll and Nikita Mamik are its executive producers.
