According to the information received, the name of the mother of 77 year old deceased Salil is Mala Ashok Ankola. She lived in Prabhat Road Complex located in Deccan Gymkhana area of Pune.

When the door of her room remained closed for a long time, the people working in her house entered inside and saw Mala lying on the bed soaked in blood. His throat was slit with a sharp weapon. Later his family members also reached the spot and immediately admitted him to a private hospital for treatment, but before that the doctor informed the family about his death. At present the police is investigating whether this is a case of murder or suicide.

Salil took a wicket in both innings, showcasing his skills at the international level. Later that year, he turned to ODI internationals, even representing India at the 1996 World Cup.
