But, the voice behind these songs was that of legendary singer S.P. Balasubramaniam. There was a time when Balasubramaniam became the voice of Salman Khan on the silver screen. Whatever film Salman did, Balasubramaniam would definitely sing the song in it.

25th September is the death anniversary of S.P. Balasubramaniam, who made the audience crazy with his voice. S.P. Balasubramaniam established his identity in the film industry as a singer, but apart from singing, he also tried his hand at music director, film producer and acting. But it was his voice that brought him fame. Due to this, he also got names like SPB and Balu.

Balasubramaniam was born on 4 June 1946 in a Telugu Brahmin family in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. His father was a Harikatha artist. His father's dream was that his son should become an S.P. Engineer and get a government job, but God had something else in his fate. Balasubramaniam developed an interest in music from an early age. That is why when he started studying engineering, he did not lose touch with music and continued learning it.

Balasubramaniam made his singing debut in 1966, when he sang the song “Emiye Vinta Moham” for Maryada Ramanna's Telugu film. After this, he did not stop and started getting many projects one after the other. It is said that he recorded the most number of songs in a day. He recorded 21 songs in Kannada and 19 in Tamil and 16 in Hindi.

Balasubramaniam got international recognition with the 1980 Telugu film Shankarabharanam. During this time he received his first National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer. He also tried his luck in the Hindi film industry and here too his voice worked wonders. He received another National Film Award for Ek Duje Ke Liye (1981). He was awarded the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer six times.

Balasubramaniam became the voice of actor Chiranjeevi in ​​South Indian cinema, while in Hindi cinema he became the voice of Salman Khan. He first sang for Salman Khan in 'Maine Pyar Kiya'. He was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Male Singer for the song 'Dil Deewana'. After this, he also sang for Salman Khan's films like 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun', 'Saajan'.

It is said that he was a fan of Mohammad Rafi. Balasubramaniam sang more than 40 thousand songs in 16 languages ​​during his film career. He also won the Nandi Award 25 times for Telugu cinema. Apart from this, he was also awarded Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. He continued singing songs even in his last days. He said goodbye to the world on 25 September 2020.
