Varun Dhawan's first and only lead film of 2024, Baby John, finally released on December 25, coinciding with Christmas. This muchawaited action film also stars Vamika Gabbi and Keerthy Suresh in important roles. Since there were no other major films released in theaters in the festival season except Baby John, it was expected to do good business at the box office. However, Baby John clashed with the panIndian film Pushpa 2 starring Allu Arjun, which affected the opening day figures of Varun Dhawan's film. According to Sacknilk, Baby John earned Rs 12.50 crore on Wednesday, while Pushpa 2 earned Rs 19.75 crore on its 21st day of release in theatres, which includes Rs 15 crore from its dubbed Hindi version. The real test for Baby John will be on the nonholiday days, Thursday and Friday, which will set the pace of the film and decide its ultimate fate at the box office.
Talking about Pushpa 2, the film has so far earned Rs 1109.85 crore in India, in which its dubbed Hindi and OG Telugu versions have a major contribution. It has already become the biggest Hindi film ever, surpassing the lifetime collections of Jawan, Gadar 2 and Stree 2.
