Director and actor Anurag Kashyap's first film has not been watched by fans of his filmmaking style and cinema. But now, they will finally be able to see it. According to producer Tutu Sharma, the film will be released in 2025.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, he confirmed that Paanch will be released in theatres. Sharma said, “Paanch is definitely coming next year. I am planning to release it in theaters within six months. The film was banned, and its negatives are a bit damaged. They have to be repaired. The process has started. As soon as it is ready, we will release five.”
Sharma also said that earlier disputes with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had been resolved, but the film could not be released due to additional challenges. He expressed optimism about the film's prospects, citing the current trend of reruns and a receptive audience for such films.
He also said, “Not only Kay Kay Menon but also Tejaswini Kolhapuri is brilliant in the film. According to me, this is Anurag Kashyap's best film till date. Many people believe so. Once you see it, you will Will agree with me.”
Starring KK Menon, Aditya Srivastava, Vijay Maurya, Joy Fernandes and Tejaswini Kolhapuri, Paanch is based on the JoshiAbhayankar serial murders that took place in Pune in 197677. The film faced trouble from the CBFC due to its depiction of drug abuse, violence and hate speech. Although it was eventually approved, productionrelated issues delayed its release.
