Superstar Aamir Khan has given an update about his next film 'Sitaare Zameen Par', which was earlier scheduled to hit the big screens on the occasion of Christmas this year. Speaking to American news outlet Deadline during the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the actor revealed that 'Sitaare Zameen Par' will hit the theaters by mid2025.
The upcoming film is a spiritual sequel to Aamir's 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, which marked his directorial debut and received critical acclaim. The actor, who is on a break from acting since the release of his 2022 film Laal Singh Chaddha, said the film will begin postproduction later this month.
Aamir said, “We are going to start postproduction at the end of this month. We will be ready to release the film in the middle of next year.” He also said that although Sitare Zameen Par is a sequel to Taare Zameen Par, characters from the original film will not be seen in the sequel.
Taare Zameen Par is the story of eightyearold boy Ishaan. Aamir plays his art teacher, who diagnoses the child with dyslexia and helps him realize his true potential. He said, “It's a new set of characters, a completely new situation and storyline. Thematically, it's a sequel to Taare Zameen Par. It's saying the same things. In fact, it's much more than that.”
The legendary actor also said that Taare Zameen Par was a film that depicted the themes of challenges of multiple intelligences and how quickly people judge others. She said, “We all have difficulties and weaknesses, we all have qualities that make us magical and unique. This theme is taken forward in Sitare Zameen Par.”
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan was last seen in Laal Singh Chaddha with Kareena Kapoor Khan. The film flopped miserably at the box office and became one of the biggest shockers of 2023.
