Zomato co-founder Deepinder Goyal wrote on social media platform X that Zomato does not encourage canceled orders at all. This leads to wastage of food. He told that despite the strict policy on Zomato and no-refund policy in case of order cancellation, 4 lakh orders are canceled by the customers. This is a cause of concern for us. We want to prevent food wastage at any cost. That's why we're launching the Food Rescue feature.
How will this feature work for restaurants and delivery partners?
Restaurant partner will get paid for the initial order. If the order gets canceled and a new customer claims it, he will get a discount on a part of the amount. Partners who do not wish to participate in the Food Rescue feature can easily opt-out using their partner app and dashboard. The delivery partner will be paid for the entire service, including initial pickup and final delivery to the new customer. Recently, Zomato has been actively introducing many new features. These include 'Brand Packs', which offer additional discounts on food from restaurants they frequently order from, and a feature launched in June that displays the total number of orders placed by users on the app.
