policy commission India's Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) has partnered with Urban Company to empower women entrepreneurs. Under this pilot initiative, assistance will be provided to women entrepreneurs running salons and beauty parlors. This information was given in an official statement on Friday. According to the statement, WEP, under its Reward-to-Reward initiative, has launched the project on a pilot basis to support women MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) in the beauty and health care sector to grow their businesses. .
Identified these sectors
Women entrepreneurs will be provided access to training on skills, legal and compliance, finance, markets and business development services, as well as mentorship and networking. A study by Microsave Consulting identified four key sectors with more than 1,00,000 women MSMEs. These sectors are beauty and health care, textile manufacturing, retail trade and food and beverages. The statement said that this pilot initiative aims to develop a system to grow women-run MSMEs across the country by leveraging the experience and learning gained through the programme.
Urban Company will lead
The statement said Urban Company will lead the program in collaboration with other key parties to identify women working in small enterprises and support their business growth. NITI Aayog had set up WEP in 2018 as an 'aggregator' platform. It became a platform to work under public-private partnership in 2022.
