Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has recently launched two new electric vehicles – BE 6e and XEV 9e. The delivery of both these electric SUVs will start from February 2025. A powerful electric SUV has been launched by Mahindra. Mahindra is going to compete directly with Tata Motors. Meanwhile, the question in people's mind was whether Mahindra will also sell electric vehicles through a new dealership like Maruti does through Suzuki Arena and NEXA. Maruti sells its premium vehicles through Nexa. At the same time, Tata Motors has set up a separate sales channel to sell EV models. However, its reply has come from the company. Mahindra has said that it will sell its electric vehicles only through its existing sales network.
All vehicle options will be available at one place
A top official of M&M said that the company wants to provide all the options to the customers at one place. Rajesh Jejurikar, executive director and CEO, auto and agri segments of M&M, said, “We want to keep the sales channel consistent so that the customer can get a choice between ICE (cars with internal combustion engine) and EV (electric vehicles). He was responding to a question on whether the company would also consider setting up a separate sales network for its EV range.
Delivery will start from February
It is noteworthy that Tata Motors has set up a separate sales channel to sell EV models. Deliveries of the newly introduced EV models – BE 6e and XEV 9e are expected to commence in February-March next year. The company currently sells one electric model in the market – XUV400. Elaborating on the reasons for not having a separate sales network for EVs, Jejurikar said, “Customers should come to our outlets and see all the products, so that then they can choose, and sometimes they can choose more than one ( Model). So this is one way in which the demand increases.'' He said that the company is creating a special team at the sales outlets to handle the sales and service of electric vehicles.
