Spice Jet The problems of the manager have increased. The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police has registered an FIR against the Managing Director of SpiceJet and four other officials. Officials gave this information on Saturday. The FIR has been lodged for allegedly not depositing 12 per cent of the employees' share in the provident fund (PF) account. Officials said the amount not deposited is Rs 65 crore.
Case filed on EPFO complaint
An EOW official said that an FIR was registered on September 16 on the complaint of Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) under sections 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant, or banker, merchant or agent) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. And investigation is going on.
The case was filed earlier
However, a SpiceJet spokesperson said in a statement, “The case was filed before the company raised funds through Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) and the airline has since paid all pending salaries and GST dues.” 'He said that ten months' PF dues have been deposited and the process of clearing the remaining dues is underway. The company has recently raised Rs 3,000 crore. The airline on September 23 announced raising Rs 3,000 crore by issuing shares on qualified institutional placement (QIP) basis.
The number of aircraft in the company's fleet decreased
The airline spokesperson said that within the first week of raising fresh funds, the company has made significant progress by paying all pending salaries and GST dues and depositing 10 months of PF dues. He said in the statement that the process of payment of other outstanding amounts is going on. Additionally, the airline has entered into agreements with various aircraft lessors. SpiceJet is facing many challenges including financial problems and legal troubles. The number of aircraft in the company's fleet has also reduced.
