According to AMFI, investors invested a total of Rs 24,509 crore in mutual funds through SIP in September 2024. Let us tell you that this is the new lifetime high of SIP. Before this, so much investment had not come through SIP in any single month. Before this, i.e. in August 2024, a total investment of Rs 23,547 crore had come in mutual funds through SIP.

AMFI Chief Executive Venkat Chalasani said that the increase in investment through SIP is an indication that investors are now giving importance to wealth creation by investing in a disciplined manner. The mutual fund industry had recorded a total investment of Rs 1.08 lakh crore in the month of August, while Rs 71,114 crore were withdrawn in September. This happened due to the huge withdrawal of Rs 1.14 lakh crore from bond schemes. Despite this huge withdrawal, the AUM of the mutual fund industry increased to Rs 67 lakh crore last month whereas it was Rs 66.7 lakh crore at the end of August.
Decrease in investment in equity mutual fund schemes
According to the data, investments worth Rs 34,419 crore came in equity-based mutual funds last month (September), which is the lowest level since April. This investment was Rs 38,239 crore in August and Rs 37,113 crore in July. Apart from these, investments in equity schemes were Rs 40,608 crore in June and Rs 34,697 crore in May. Among equity schemes, sectoral funds attracted the most investors with net inflows of Rs 13,255 crore in September.
