In such a situation, Railways charges cancellation charges from passengers, which vary. Generally, as you know, if online waiting train tickets are not confirmed then they automatically get canceled and your money is transferred electronically to your account. But for cancellation of confirmed or RAC tickets, some charges are deducted which the passengers have to pay. This is deducted from their refund amount.

How much is charged for canceling confirmed tickets?

  • If the ticket is presented for cancellation more than 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, a minimum cancellation charge per passenger is deducted at a flat rate.
  • If the ticket is for AC First/Executive class, then flat Rs 240 + GST ​​is deducted.
  • If First Class/AC 2 Tier ticket is cancelled, flat amount of Rs 200 + GST ​​is deducted.
  • In case of AC Chair Car/AC 3Tier/AC 3 Economy ticket, flat amount of Rs 180 + GST ​​is deducted.
  • On cancellation of sleeper class ticket, only Rs 120 will be deducted.
  • Rs 60 are deducted on cancellation of second class ticket.

If the ticket is presented for cancellation between 48 hours to 12 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, there is a minimum cancellation charge of 25% of the fare and subject to GST, which is applicable for all AC classes. According to the official website of IRCTC, similarly, if the ticket is canceled before 12 hours of the scheduled departure of the train and up to 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, irrespective of the distance, a minimum cancellation charge of 50% of the fare will be deducted. . This also includes GST applicable for all AC classes.

What are the rules for RAC and waiting tickets?

In case you have an e-ticket, in such case online cancellation will be done or online TDR is required to be filed within the stipulated time limit to get the refund under the rules. Where RAC ticket or waiting list ticket is presented for cancellation, refund of fare is made after deducting clerkage, if the ticket is presented for cancellation up to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure of the train, irrespective of distance. . Talking about clerkage, till 30 minutes before the scheduled departure of the train, irrespective of the distance, clerkage fee of Rs 60 per passenger plus GST is deducted. This is applicable for all AC classes.

Then no refund will be given

No refund will be given on RAC tickets or waitlisted tickets issued 30 minutes before the scheduled departure of the train. Further, where a confirmed reservation has been given to a RAC or waitlisted ticket holder at any time till the final preparation of the reservation chart, such ticket will be treated as a reserved ticket and cancellation charges will be charged as applicable for confirmed tickets. .
