youth Under the 'Pradhan Mantri Internship Scheme', which was started on a pilot basis with the aim of making people employable, 111 companies have registered on the portal on the very first day. Under this scheme, one crore youth will be helped in internship in big companies. Companies have so far offered training to more than 2,200 people. Sources in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) told news agency 'PTI-Bhasha', “Companies have offered training to more than 2,200 youth on the internship portal till 3 pm on October 4.”
You will get Rs 5000 every month
Under this scheme, which was launched on Thursday on a pilot basis, the youth selected for internship will get monthly financial assistance of Rs 5,000. Additionally, they will be given a one-time assistance of Rs 6,000 if they are a part of the internship. The internship will be for 12 months. There is a plan to provide 1.25 lakh internship opportunities in the current financial year. It is estimated to cost Rs 800 crore. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her budget speech for FY 2024-25 had said that the government will launch a comprehensive scheme to provide internships. Under this, one crore youth will be given training opportunity in 500 top companies in five years. They will get the opportunity to learn the real-world business environment, work in various business sectors for 12 months and also get employment opportunities.
Internship will start from 2nd December
The scheme has been implemented through the online portal 'pminternship.mca.gov.in'. The portal has been developed by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. In the first phase, candidates can register themselves on the portal between 12th to 25th October. Applicants will be shortlisted on October 26. Companies will select the candidates from October 27 to November 7. After that, the selected candidates will have time from November 8 to 15 to accept the internship offers of the companies. The internship will start from December 2 and will be for 12 months. The youth selected for internship will be given insurance cover under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. The government will pay the premium for this. Apart from this, companies can provide additional accident insurance to the selected candidate.
