During the meeting, both sides agreed to celebrate the year 2026 as the 'India-Spain Year of Culture, Tourism and AI'. Apart from this, Cultural Exchange Program 2024-28 was also signed to promote bilateral exchanges in music, dance, theatre, literature, museums and festivals. According to the statement, during the meeting an agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs related matters was signed. This will facilitate exchange of information for detection, prevention, investigation and combating customs crimes. Spain talked about opening a consulate in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. The Consulate General of India in Barcelona became operational in August this year itself. Lal said the Spanish delegation included two ministers and 15 top executives of major companies there.
