Indian Railways Free Food: Crores of people travel daily in the passenger trains run by Indian Railways and reach their destination. This is the reason why Indian Railways is called the lifeline of the country. People from all sections of the country, from poor to rich, travel in the trains run by Indian Railways. While Indian Railways runs Jansadharan Express with lowest fare for the poor class, it also runs premium semi-high speed trains like Vande Bharat for the rich. Today we will know here in which trains running in India, free food is served to the passengers?
Onboard catering facility is available in long distance trains.
Generally, only long distance trains have the facility of onboard catering. Trains that travel short distances do not have the facility of onboard catering. However, only in some selected trains across the country, passengers are given free food, for which no separate money is taken.
Passengers get free food in these trains
Free food is served to passengers only in premium trains like Vande Bharat Express, Gatimaan Express, Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express, Duronto Express. Free here does not at all mean that passengers are not charged for food. In fact, money for food is also taken from the passengers traveling in these trains at the time of booking tickets. That is, when you book tickets in these trains, the cost of food is also included in the total price of that ticket. The only difference here is that unlike other trains, in these trains you do not need to buy food by paying separately.
You have to pay separately for food in other trains
In other ordinary mail/express trains, passengers are not charged for food along with their tickets. In such a situation, when you travel in these ordinary mail/express trains, you have to pay separately to get food. Whereas in premium trains like Vande Bharat, Gatimaan Express, Rajdhani and Shatabdi, you do not have to pay separately for food.
