Prime Minister Many major decisions were taken in an important cabinet meeting chaired by Narendra Modi. In this cabinet meeting, special attention was given to the farmers and agriculture of the country, which will definitely benefit the farmers of the country tremendously. The PM Modi-led Cabinet today approved the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) as an independent centrally sponsored scheme under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Keeping in mind the interests of farmers, a total of Rs 2481 crore will be spent on this scheme, out of which Rs 1584 crore will be spent by the Central Government and in turn Rs 897 crore will be spent by the state governments.
Government wants to increase focus on natural farming
The central government wants to increase focus on natural farming across the country. Under this scheme, a mission will be run to promote natural farming in the entire country in mission mode. According to the information given by the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Natural Farming Mission will be implemented in 15,000 clusters in interested Gram Panchayats. In this mission, 1 crore farmers will be covered and natural farming will be started in 7.5 lakh hectare land area. Under the scheme, priority will be given to farmers doing natural farming, areas with practice of SRLM/PACS/FPO etc.
10,000 bio-input resource centers will be established on the basis of need.
Under the National Natural Farming Mission, 10,000 bio-input resource centers will be set up on need basis to provide easy availability and access of ready-to-use natural farming inputs to farmers. Apart from this, Natural Farming Model Demonstration Farms will be established in about 2000 Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Agricultural Universities and farmers' fields. Under the mission, farmers will be provided easy certification system and dedicated common branding to provide market access for their natural agriculture products.
