Tata Group Former Chairman Ratan Tata has said goodbye to the world. He breathed his last at the age of 86 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. He was ill for a long time. The total market cap of Tata Group as of March 31, 2024 was $365 billion. But this huge business of Tata Group did not reach here just like that. Ratan Tata has worked like a laborer to take Tata Group to this stage. Born on December 28, 1937 in Mumbai, Ratan Tata's father Naval Tata and mother Suni Tata got separated in 1948. After which his grandmother brought him up.
Ratan Tata studied at Harvard Business School
After studying in Mumbai and Shimla, Ratan Tata received higher education from Harvard Business School. After which he completed his studies in Architecture and Structural Engineering from Cornell University. Ratan Tata wanted to work in America but due to his grandmother's health he had to come to India. In India, he started working at IBM. When Tata Group Chairman JRD Tata came to know about this, he was very angry. At the behest of JRD Tata, he sent his CV to Tata Group and started his career in Tata Group as a general employee.
Worked like laborers in Tata Steel
During his job in Tata Group, he learned the nuances of work along with other employees and worked in the Tata Steel plant by putting limestone in the furnaces, which was usually done by laborers. In the year 1991, Ratan Tata became the Chairman of Tata Group and led the entire group for about 21 years. During this period, Ratan Tata not only led the Tata Group memorably but also brought glory to India in the industry. While being the chairman of Tata Group, Ratan Tata took over the big brands like Jaguar Land Rover.
Tata in every house
Ratan Tata's Tata Group is ranging from making salt to flying airplanes. It is because of Ratan Tata that today some Tata product is being used in every household in India. Ratan Tata gave such products to the country, which are being used by everyone from upper class to lower class of India.
