Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Said on Tuesday that to make India a developed nation by 2047, the Narendra Modi-led government is emphasizing on four key areas, infrastructure, investment, innovation and inclusiveness. He said this during a conversation with students of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. The Finance Minister arrived here on Tuesday afternoon to participate in the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. She traveled by car from New York to Washington DC. Meanwhile she stayed at the University of Pennsylvania.
We will be a developed country on the 100th anniversary of independence
Sitharaman told the students, 'In the year when we will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of independence from British rule, i.e. in 2047, we want and aspire to become a developed country.' The Finance Minister said that to achieve this goal, the government has identified four key areas: infrastructure, investment, innovation and inclusivity. He also said, 'There is a provision for affirmative action in the Constitution. You have to uplift the poor, you have to uplift the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. This is a commitment given in the Constitution.
Government is focusing special on four sections
The Minister said that apart from this, there is a need to understand and fulfill the needs of four sections: farmers, women, youth and the poor. According to him, it is also necessary to ensure that they get access to resources and opportunities.
