The effect of the rise in the stock market in the last five sessions has started becoming visible. In the last five days, the wealth of equity investors increased by Rs 15.18 lakh crore. BSE barometer in the last five trading days 2,722. There has been a jump of 12 points or 3.44 percent. According to PTI news, the market capitalization of BSE listed companies increased by Rs 15,18,926 in the last five sessions. Rs 69 crore increased to Rs 4,58,17,010. 11 crore (5.41 trillion US dollars).
How was the market on Thursday?
The 30-share benchmark Sensex rose 809.53 points or 1 per cent to close at 81,765, rising for the fifth consecutive day on Thursday. NSE Nifty gained 240.95 points or 0.98 per cent and closed at 24,708.40 on Thursday. Bank Nifty also gained 0.63 per cent, while IT stocks gained 1.95 per cent, said Prashant Tapse, senior vice-president (research), Mehta Equities Ltd. In the 30-share pack, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Titan, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank, Tech Mahindra and HCL Technologies were the biggest gainers.
2,141 shares gained momentum on BSE
NTPC, Asian Paints and IndusInd Bank were among the laggards. On the BSE, 2,141 shares advanced, while 1,825 shares declined and 117 shares remained unchanged. Siddharth Khemka, Head of Research, Wealth Management, Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd, said Indian stock markets rose strongly during the day due to strong buying and positive market sentiment in heavyweight stocks across sectors.
FIIs invested ₹5,000 crore in two sessions
The rally was also further fueled by foreign institutional investors (FIIs), who invested more than Rs 5,000 crore in the last two sessions. Among sectoral indices, BSE Focused IT gained the most by 1.96 per cent, while Tech gained 1.92 per cent, IT gained 1.81 per cent and Telecom gained 0.95 per cent. Bankex (0.68 percent) and consumer durables (0.66 percent) also gained momentum. BSE Services and Realty declined.
