New Delhi . Generative AI (GenAI) smartphones will account for more than 54 percent of total mobile shipments by 2028. This information was given in a report released on Friday.
Counterpoint Research reports that GenAI will be used in both flagship and midrange smartphones through operating system (OS) upgrades and new model launches.
The report said that due to the increase in 5G penetration and increasing use of AI computing in devices, the use of GenAI will increase in smartphones ranging from flagship models to lowerend.
According to the report, the demand for GenAI smartphones will increase rapidly in the coming time and will see a significant increase after 2025.
Smartphones are the perfect carrier to experience AI functionalities. Midrange models are now gaining GenEye capabilities through software updates and hybrid projects.
The report said, “We expect to see GenAI used in midrange and budget devices in the future. This means that users do not need to buy a flagship device to enjoy AI features. “
There are many GenAI use cases currently emerging on both flagship and midrange smartphones. This reach ensures that a larger portion of the market will benefit from AI.
The findings revealed that Android brands, SoC vendors, and AI developers are working on enhancing the AI ecosystem to integrate GenAI into smartphones, the report said.
Earlier in a report, it was said that there has been a surge in the demand for AI skills globally, in which India and America are at the forefront.
Demand in the US is being driven primarily by individual users, while in India corporate sponsorships are playing a key role in promoting GenAI training.
