A new update has been released for Alan Wake 2 to finally address issues with PS5 Pro performance.
A new balanced graphics mode has been added to combine Quality mode settings (and ray tracing) with Performance mode resolution, aiming for 40fps. Requires a display capable of reaching a 120Hz refresh rate.
Performance mode has been adjusted for a more consistent frame rate, while ray tracing in Quality and Balanced modes will have a less noisy image. Perhaps most damning is the ability to completely turn off the PS5 Pro's PSSR.
PSSR, or PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, is Sony's AI enhancement technology, but it appears to be causing problems for some developers, including Remedy. Bloober also seemed to have problems with it for their Silent Hill 2 remake.
The latest patch is available on PS5, as well as Xbox Series X/S and PC. On those other platforms, a couple of minor fixes were implemented, as well as other optimizations.
