Company's focus on 'digital development' amid changing landscape of telecom: Bharti Airtel

New Delhi . Bharti Airtel on Tuesday said the company added the highest number of net wireless customers in October. At the same time, 1.93 million mobile subscribers were added during this month.

The company said that it is committed to supporting India's digital development and providing strong connectivity solutions.

According to the latest data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the telecom service provider added 19,28,263 wireless users in October, which is a milestone.

On the other hand, Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea reported a decline of 3.76 million and 1.98 million subscribers, respectively.

BSNL added around 5 lakh users in October, while MTNL saw a slight decline of 2,273 users.

According to TRAI data, the total wireless user base in India declined marginally by 0.29 per cent from 1,153.72 million in September to 1,150.42 million in October.

When it comes to machinetomachine (M2M) connections, Airtel holds the largest market share with 51.82 percent from 29.08 million connections, followed by Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio.

On Visitor Location Register (VLR) performance, Airtel achieved 99.48 per cent active user rate, the highest among telecom operators, reflecting network reliability and quality.

“Airtel continues to focus on delivering highquality network experiences and innovative services that meet the changing needs of customers,” the company said.

Earlier this month, Bharti Airtel said the company identified 8 billion spam calls and 800 million spam SMS within two and a half months of launching its AIenabled, spamfighting solution.

The AIenabled network has successfully identified nearly 1 million spammers every day, the company said in a statement.

The telecom regulator had asked operators to stop spam calls and SMS and follow its instructions regarding whitelisting of URLs, APKs and OTT links.

In this series, Airtel launched an AIenabled spam detection solution in September, which alerts customers in real time about suspicious spam calls and SMS.
