Tremendous jump in vehicle sales in India, sales of two wheelers set a record in November

New Delhi . Passenger vehicle sales in India stood at 3.48 lakh units in November, showing a growth of 4.1 per cent compared to the same month last year, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Friday.

In the month following Diwali, sales of twowheelers stood at 16.05 lakh units, which crossed the figure of 16 lakh units for the first time in November.

Total production of automobiles during the month in November 2024, including passenger vehicles, threewheelers, twowheelers and quadricycles, stood at 24,07,351 units.

“The demand that was seen during the festive period in October continued for the entire industry in November as well,” SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said.

Data released by auto makers earlier this month showed that sales of cars and SUVs in the domestic market increased during November, with market leaders Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, Tata Motors and Toyota Kirloskar leading the sales for the month. There has been an increase in the vehicles sent to dealers during this period.

Maruti Suzuki's total domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 1,41,312 units during November this year as against 1,34,158 units in the same month last year. The main growth was recorded in the SUV segment, where sales of its popular models like Brezza, Grand Vitara and Jimny increased from 49,016 units in November 2023 to 59,003 units during the month.

He said that the year 2024 has exceeded the company's expectations. Tata Motors reported 2 percent growth in passenger vehicle sales in November this year at 47,117 units.
