New Delhi . Water is life and the most beneficial of any energy drink. Wise meditators and elders have often said this. But it is also true that excess of everything is bad. Similarly, overhydrating yourself can also become a problem. There are some warning signs, if you keep an eye on them then you can avoid overdose (even of water).
We're constantly reminded about the benefits of staying hydrated, but drinking enough water can be difficult. But then how to know that you are inviting trouble by drinking more water than required?
Drinking too much water can cause mild and slightly bothersome lifethreatening symptoms. Drinking too much water can be lifethreatening, especially when major electrolytes are depleted.
Nutritionist Riddhi Khanna says, “Drinking too much water can lead to hyponatremia, which causes a dangerous drop in sodium levels in the blood.”
Sodium is an important electrolyte that plays the role of the body's traffic guard. It controls where water is distributed throughout the body and how much is sent to the bladder. Water intoxication is relatively uncommon, but it can happen if you drink more than your body can excrete.
Drinking too much water can be detected very easily. There are four main methods.
In this the color of urine becomes very clear. Actually, the color of urine is light yellow due to urochrome and if it is not so then it is a warning sign. Apart from this, going to the washroom more than 6 to 8 times a day also makes you alert.
If you drink too much water, your stomach becomes bloated and nausea occurs. If you go further than this, you get headache and may have to go through brain fog. That's because the sodium level decreases slightly, due to which the cells swell. There is almost no room for cells to spread. This creates pressure, which causes headaches.
So in this way, these are warning signs which tell you without going to the doctor that it is time to be careful. Be careful and avoid excessive water intake.
