Path of Exile 2 is much more popular than developer Grinder Gear Games anticipated, so the studio is warning people about potentially long queues that could form during the Early Access launch weekend.
The original Diablo Challenger managed to attract hundreds of thousands of concurrent players over its lifetime, so excitement for its hack-and-slash RPG sequel is at an all-time high as it prepares to jump into Early Access later today (see our Exile 2 Path release times guide for more). It's not an exaggeration either: Grinder Gear Games just announced that over a million people have redeemed keys for the free-to-play game Path of Exile 2, and the game isn't even available yet.
“We just hit 1 million early access redemptions,” the studio tweeted today. “The support you all have shown for Path of Exile 2 Early Access goes far beyond what we could have predicted. However, we want to be honest with all of you and let you know that there may very well be queues over the weekend. week”.

“We really didn't expect to have more than a million people connected at the same time.” To compensate for this, Grinder Gear says it has already “ordered a lot more card capacity and those servers will be online very soon,” but for now, the team “frankly doesn't know what our backend services will be capable of.” handle as we surpass one million users… we're really not sure what kind of limits we could reach.”
In any case, you may have to wait a couple of hours (or even a couple of days) before you can comfortably jump into Path of Exile 2.
