New Delhi . According to the information given by the Central Government, a total of 25,777 posts, including 15,139 faculty posts, have been filled in the central higher educational institutions till October 29 in mission mode.
“Central universities, Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), Indian Institutes of Science and Education and A total of 25,257 vacancies have been collectively filled by the Institute of Research (IISER) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, of which 15,047 are faculty posts, of which 1,869 SC, 739 ST, 3,089 OBC and 254 Divyang are included.”
The Union Minister said that many big efforts have been made by the government to attract better faculty. Throughout the year, works like open advertisement, search cum selection process, special recruitment drive, mission mode recruitment, sending invitations to facultyscientistsold students were done by the government.
Giving further information, the Minister said that the government in 2019 notified the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Teacher Cadre) Act, 2019, so that persons belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Socially and Educationally Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections Reservation of posts can be provided in the appointments.
He said that under the teacher cadre, 15 percent reservation has been provided for Scheduled Castes, 7.5 percent for Scheduled Tribes, 27 percent for socially and educationally backward classes and 10 percent for economically weaker sections. There are 48 central universities in India, out of which 47 universities are run on regular mode and one university, IGNOU, is run on distance learning mode.
In response to another question, the Union Minister said that as of October 31, there were 18,940 sanctioned teaching posts and 35,640 sanctioned nonteaching posts in central universities.
