New Delhi . Passenger vehicle sales in India increased 4 percent yearonyear to 3,50,000 units in November. This information was obtained from the data released on Monday.
Last month, wholesale sales in India's domestic passenger vehicle market stood at 3,35,954 units. The reason for this is strong demand during the wedding season and increasing private consumption. Also, it has got support from the increasing trend of SUVs.
Sales of passenger vehicles in the January to November period of 2024 stood at 39,80,000 units, compared to 38,21,000 units in the same period last year. There has been an increase of 4.1 percent on annual basis.
Maruti Suzuki India has sold 1,81,531 units in November. In this, the domestic sales figure was 1,44,238 units. It was 1,34,158 units in November 2023. There has been an increase of 5.5 percent on annual basis.
According to the country's largest automobile manufacturer, there are many reasons behind the increase in November sales, including demand in rural markets, increase in demand due to the wedding season and people's inclination towards SUVs.
Maruti Suzuki India's rural penetration increased to 48.7 percent in November, which is 2.2 percent higher than the same month last year.
Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (M&M Limited)'s total auto sales in the month of November stood at 79,083 units. In the utility vehicle segment, Mahindra sold 46,222 vehicles in the domestic market with a growth of 16 percent.
Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Division, M&M Limited, said that this month saw the launch of electric SUVs – BE6e and XEV9e. The market introduction of these new electric SUVs will begin in a phased manner at the end of January 2025. Deliveries will begin in late February or early March 2025.
Tata Motors has registered a 2 percent increase in passenger vehicle sales on an annual basis to 47,117 units. During this period, Hyundai Motor India's domestic sales stood at 48,246 units, while the company exported 13,006 units. A slight decline was recorded in the total sales of the company.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has reported monthly sales of 25,586 units in November 2024, up 44 per cent from 17,818 units sold in the same month last year.
