The huge new update for The Rogue Prince of Persia, Second Act, is here.
We already knew it would work as a full re-release of sorts, but today Ubisoft made it official, calling it the “biggest update to The Rogue Prince of Persia since its early access release on Steam and GeForce in May 2024.”
Along with improved artwork and a modified color palette, players can expect the wartime city of Ctesiphon to come to life, along with a “significant transformation regarding the Prince, whose color has changed from purple to a shade that “Not only is it better suited to the new direction, but also its genre, its setting, and the Prince of Persia series in general.”
That said, the “Purple Prince” will still be playable when a set of playable skins arrives in an upcoming update.
“With the Act Two update, players will be able to explore completely new biomes, the Mines and the Artisan District, face new bosses and experience a new narrative act, while Act 1 received a deep polish,” explains Ubisoft. “In addition, there are new enemies to face and many quality of life improvements, such as difficulty rebalancing, multiple save slots, automatic collection of spiritual ashes and gold, and more.”
This update also adds German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish localization.
“I think it works because the game has a charismatic star,” Chris Donlan wrote about The Rogue Prince of Persia in its early access release. “He's not charismatic in what he says, maybe, but he is charismatic in what he does and how he moves. I love watching him run.”
