China Masters: Sindhu, Anupama out after losing second round matches

Shenzhen (China). Twotime Olympic medalists PV Sindhu and Anupama Upadhyaya made early exits from the ongoing China Masters after losing their respective secondround matches here on Thursday.

Sindhu lost to Singapore's Yeo Jia Min 1621, 2117, 2123 in a match that lasted one hour and nine minutes. This was Sindhu's seventh consecutive tournament in which she could not progress beyond the quarterfinals this year.

The top Indian shuttler lost the first game despite leveling the score at 1414 once, but was unable to maintain the momentum as the world number 13 took the first game.

However, Sindhu made a strong comeback in the next game and came from 118 down to win the game 2117 and take the match to the third game.

The 29yearold Indian started the final game with a 63 lead and then strengthened it to 139, but Yoo Jin turned the tables and leveled the score at 1515. He left the Indian player behind by scoring three consecutive points. Sindhu, however, tried her best to take the lead in crucial situations but ultimately lost 2123 to the Singaporean.
