According to reports, Guyana will confer its highest national award “The Order of Excellence” on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At the same time, Barbados will honor Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the prestigious honorary “Order of Freedom of Barbados”.
Why is a trip to Guyana important?
This is the first time in more than 50 years that an Indian Prime Minister has visited Guyana. Let us tell you that a large number of population of Indian origin lives in Guyana. Their number is around 3,20,000. When PM Modi reached the airport, Guyana President Irfan Ali along with more than 12 of his cabinet ministers were standing to welcome him.
