New Delhi. Ahead of the BorderGavaskar Trophy starting on November 22 in Perth, former Australian cricketer and head coach Justin Langer warned against underestimating the Indian team, saying that the champions should never be underestimated.
India have won 21 on both their previous Test tours to Australia, but recently suffered a 30 home series defeat to New Zealand.
Langer told 'The West Australian' on Sunday, “One thing you never do is underestimate the champions and it happens in every sport, because they are champions for a reason. There are one and a half billion cricket fans in India. The team will be under a lot of pressure, so how they fight will be important. The bowling attack is also very senior now, so enjoy it while you can, because they are not in the team forever. Will stay.”
If India has to enter the final of the World Test Championship to be held at Lord's next year, it will have to win at least four matches on its Test tour of Australia. Langer feels India could prove to be a dangerous opponent for Australia, who arrived in Perth on Sunday to prepare for the first Test, looking to recover from the defeat to New Zealand.
He said, “I think they (India) had won only two Test matches before this and to win the series 30 is a great achievement. India will be disappointed after losing 30 to New Zealand and will try their best to improve it.” Will impose because the pressure on them will be too much.”
