Tilak Verma was born on 8 November 2002 in Hyderabad. Son of an electrician from Hyderabad, Tilak did not have the best of facilities in his early days but his batting talent was innate. The life of young batsman Tilak Verma was full of struggle. He saw a lot of poverty in his childhood. To become a cricketer, he had to struggle a lot due to his poor financial condition. But despite his low salary, Tilak's father supported him strongly.
Verma was seen playing tennis ball cricket by his childhood coach, and the coach took him under his wing. He made his debut in IPL 2022. Tilak came into the public eye by scoring two centuries in the 202021 Vijay Hazare Trophy and Mumbai Indians signed Tilak in the 2022 auction by paying a huge amount. At that time his base price was Rs 20 lakh and he was an uncapped player. Since then, Tilak Verma has been continuously doing well for Mumbai Indians.
Tilak then had another stellar IPL season and was soon included in the T20 squad for the first time for the series against the West Indies. Verma has been consistently performing well for India in the middle order. His ability to change gears along with his useful off break makes him a great player in this Indian setup. Recently, his performance in the T20 series against South Africa was excellent and while batting at number3, he scored two centuries in two consecutive matches.
Seeing his ability, Rohit Sharma has already called him the new star of Indian cricket, while Team India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav is also calling Tilak Verma a strong contender for number3 after Virat.
