Country In the 42-day festive period this year, retail sales of vehicles increased by 12 percent year-on-year to 42,88,248 units. Dealers' organization FADA gave this information on Friday. Last year, 38,37,040 vehicles were registered during this festive period. Federation of Vehicle Dealer Associations (FADA) President C.S. Vigneshwar said, “Since the beginning of Navratri, we have seen significant growth which is close to our predicted target. During this period, 42.88 lakh vehicles were registered, which is 11.76 percent more than last year's 38.37 lakh vehicles.
6,03,009 passenger vehicles sold
Retail sales of passenger vehicles increased by seven percent to 6,03,009 units during the festive period this year, while the figure was 5,63,059 units in the same period last year. Vigneshwar said that the increase in demand and unprecedented discounts available in the market have led to a revival in the sales of passenger vehicles after a slowdown. This year, in a period of 42 days, registration of two-wheelers increased by 14 percent to 33,11,325 units as compared to last year. Vigneshwar said that strong rural demand mainly contributed to the sales of two-wheelers. During this period, retail sales of commercial vehicles increased by one percent on annual basis to 1,28,738 units. On the other hand, three-wheeler sales increased by seven percent to 1,59,960 units. However, tractor sales declined two per cent year-on-year to 85,216 units as against 86,640 units in the same period a year ago. FADA said the data was collected from 1,368 out of 1,430 regional transport offices (RTOs) across the country.

Talking about October only, wholesale sales of passenger vehicles increased marginally to 3,93,238 units on an annual basis. Industry organization SIAM had given this information on Wednesday. Wholesale sales of passenger vehicles in October 2023 were 3,89,714 units. Total two-wheeler sales last month grew 14 percent year-on-year to 21,64,276 units, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said in a statement. Whereas in October 2023 it was 18,95,799 units. Scooter sales increased by 22 percent in October to 7,21,200 units.
