New Delhi . Paneer and tofu are two foods that look similar but have different tastes and nutrition. Dr. Amit Kumar of Shatayu Ayurveda and Panchakarma Center, Hardoi, in a special conversation with , explained the difference between the two food items and the health benefits of their consumption.
Paneer is a food made from milk. It is rich in protein and calcium. Paneer is counted among dairy products. Cheese contains high amount of calories, due to which its consumption is considered important for weight gain.
At the same time, if we talk about tofu, it looks like cheese, but it is made not from milk but from soy milk. It is kind of plant based. Tofu contains rich amounts of vitamins and amino acids. It contains fewer calories than cheese, hence its consumption is recommended for weight loss.
Protein, calcium, phosphorus and vitamin B '12' are found in abundance in cheese. Its daily consumption strengthens bones. Muscles increase, dental health and digestive system improve.
Protein, iron, calcium and vitamin E are found in abundance in tofu. Its daily consumption improves heart health and digestive system. It is also considered helpful in weight management and cancer prevention.
Talking about nutrition, 100 grams of cheese contains about 265 calories, 11.25 grams of protein, 714 milligrams of calcium, 27 grams of fat, 3.38 grams of carbohydrates, 2.6 grams of sugar and 916 milligrams of sodium.
About 8 grams of protein, 4.8 grams of fat, 121 milligrams of potassium and 7 milligrams of sodium are found in every 100 grams of tofu. Iron and calcium are also found in abundance in it.
