Asuncion. Paraguay beat Argentina 21 in a thrilling World Cup qualifier. Antonio Sanabria and Omar Alderete scored the goals for the team.
Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martínez scored the first goal for Argentina while scoring the first goal of the match. He took control of the ball after running onto a brilliant pass from Enzo Fernandez and hit a precise shot into the far corner.
Moments later, Sanabria leveled the score for Paraguay with a superb overhead volley from Gustavo Velásquez's cross. Alderete gave Paraguay the lead shortly after halftime with a header from Diego Gómez's freekick.
The Argentine team could not succeed in scoring any goal and they had to lose the match 12.
However, despite the defeat, Argentina remains at the top of the 10team South American zone with 22 points from 11 matches, six points ahead of Paraguay.
It is noteworthy that the top 6 teams will qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup, while the seventhplaced team will get a chance in the Intercontinental Playoff.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in the North American countries Canada, Mexico and the USA.
