Due to the skyrocketing prices of onion, its effect is now being seen on the salads eaten at home and restaurants. These have also started disappearing from the plate. Common people are continuously troubled by the rising prices of onion. Just a few days ago, the wholesale price of onion reached the highest level of ₹ 5400 per quintal in the last five years. This sentiment was seen in Lasalgaon, Nashik, Maharashtra. However, onion crop has been ruined due to heavy rains in Maharashtra. The next crop is not ready yet. Traders say that more onions are expected to arrive from Alwar. After the arrival from Maharashtra stopped, the farmers of Alwar prematurely released onion crops from the fields in the market. Due to this the size of onion here is small. Along with onion, the price of garlic has also troubled the common people. In Delhi-NCR, the retail price of one loaf of garlic is seen ranging from Rs 80 to Rs 120.
