Now Bhopal police has saved a businessman from digital arrest and saved him from loss worth crores of rupees. Police officials have shared information about this entire incident. Cyber criminals had called the businessman on Saturday and posed as officials of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
How was digital arrest done?
Actually, Vivek Oberoi, resident of Arera Colony, Bhopal, received a call on Saturday. The caller introduced himself as a TRAI official. The man told the businessman that several bank accounts had been opened with the help of his Aadhaar card and his Aadhaar card had also been used to purchase SIM cards for suspicious activities. Cyber criminals made Oberoi download Skype video calling app and asked him to stay in a room.

When the businessman was digitally arrested, he informed the Madhya Pradesh Cyber Police. The police reached there during the digital arrest itself. When the police asked the fake law enforcement officers to identify themselves, the criminals disconnected the video call. According to the police, the criminals had got information about the businessman's bank accounts, but they did not transfer any money.

Then they scare people by making audio or video calls and hold them digitally hostage in their homes.
